No funeral: Elisabetta Balzan decided to give herself up to science and her family respected her wishes. The 41-year-old, who grew up in the village of Madiago, died last Monday of a terminal illness. He was only 41 years old and the body was transferred from the funeral home to the Clinical Anatomy Center of the University of Padua, where it will be used for teaching and research for physicians and surgeons. Body donation to science is different from organ donation, which has a completely different purpose and different methods.

It is regulated by the Law “Regulations on the Disposal of Body Tissues and Postmortem Tissue for the Purposes of Study, Training and Scientific Research”, which was approved on January 29, 2020.
