Yep, Kevin Love is back on Pass of the Night. I expected Ricky Rubio to make multiple appearances on the feature, but Kevin Love is making a play to become the Timberwolves player with the most appearances.
If you’re on the East Coast and didn’t stay up late, or don’t have League Pass and couldn’t watch this game, then you missed the Minnesota Timberwolves defeating the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time in 22 tries. All 5 Wolves starters played well, including a 27 point performance from Kevin Martin and a near triple-double from Ricky Rubio. But in what should come as no surprise, it was Kevin Love leading the way, finishing with 25 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists. And he should have had 4 assists, but his most impressive pass of the night didn’t get him one.
Late in the first quarter, Love secured a defensive rebound, pivoted, looked up and saw Corey Brewer streaking down the court. He then fired a two-handed chest pass the length of the court, hitting Brewer perfectly in stride.
Alright, go watch that pass again. HE WAS UNDER HIS OWN BASKET AND HIT COREY BREWER IN STRIDE IN THE PAINT ON THE OTHER END OF THE COURT.
Love was unfortunately robbed of an assist for this beauty because Jodie Meeks was called for a clear path foul that meant Brewer’s layup did not count. But it doesn’t take away how amazing that pass was. Can’t wait to see more of it from Love this year.
