“Design: Art, Science and Society” is the exhibition spread throughout the historic center of Pordenone in shops, bookshops and other commercial activities dedicated to the main stages in the history of design. The vast exhibition is being organized as part of the 12th Pordenone Design Week, an event that from March 13-17 transforms the city into a capital of design. The event is organized by the University Consortium of Pordenone, ISIA Roma Design Headquarters in Pordenone, Confindustria Alto Adriatico and Pordenone Design Cultural Association. The initiative is carried out with the support of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia Region, the Bcc Pordenonese and Monsile and the Friuli Foundation, sponsored by the Municipality of Pordenone and the Chamber of Commerce of Pordenone and Udine, with the support of partners Adi Fvg, Polo Tecnologico Alto Adriatico Andrea Galvani, Comet (metal manufacturing group in Friuli-Venezia Giulia) .

The exhibition is organized in an “explosive” thematic path into several stages and is supervised by the famous architect and curator Silvana Anikareko who creates the scripts with drawings by Elena Ross, the young designer.

Subtitled Design Beyond Boundaries, the broad exhibition offers some insights into the complex and stimulating mosaic that represents contemporary design culture. The exhibition constitutes a compendium on eight areas of issues of great concern to design and its relevance to different spheres of life: “Design and Society,” “Design and Unique Pieces,” “Design and Utopia,” “Design and Gender,” “Design and Sustainability,” “Design and the Foreign Legion.” “,” Design and Immigrants “,” Design and the New Generation.
«« With 8 quick brush strokes – explains curator Silvana Anicchiariko – I tried to show how the design transforms and evolves. It is a discipline that has defined the way of life of Italians, focusing not only on needs but also on the dreams, hopes and fantasies of individuals and society. It was a device that allowed designers to draw utopias, scenarios, and visions. From a profession practiced by a few great masters, design has become an extended and all-encompassing profession. He has opened up to internationalization, and is increasingly interested in emotions and the need to protect the planet.”

The trend produced by PDW in the field of synergy between science, art and design proves to be a useful vanguard for the entire territory, even extraterritorially. As in the case of Venice, where the possibility of a collaboration for two consecutive years led to the creation of an exhibition produced using the work of the design course students, in collaboration with the students of the Istituto Scolastico Superiore Equal “Abate Zanetti”, given the constant participation of the company Pordenone “Valcucine”. The results were presented on the occasion of Venice Glass Week 2021 and 2022.
