(ANSA) – BEIJING, April 15 – The United States must stop “encouraging war” in Ukraine and “start talking about peace.” This is what Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said during his official visit to Beijing.
“The United States should stop encouraging war and start talking about peace, and the European Union should start talking about peace,” Lula told reporters before leaving for the UAE.
Yesterday, at the bilateral meeting held in the Great Hall of the People, Lula and Chinese President Xi Jinping “agreed that dialogue and negotiation are the only viable way to solve the Ukraine crisis,” according to a Beijing state media report. Moreover, the two leaders expressed their belief that “all efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully should be encouraged and supported.” For this reason, Lula and Xi called on more countries to play a constructive role in promoting a political solution to the crisis and “at the same time” decided to “keep their communication open on the merits” of this issue.
