Interrupting an activity for ten minutes can increase activity and well-being and increase work productivity. This was confirmed by a study published in Plus One MagazineAnd the conducted by scholars from Western University of Timisoara, Romania. team led by Patricia Albulescu, evaluated the effects on well-being associated with energy management and recovery through short rest periods. The researchers conducted a meta-analysis of 22 previous research papers published over the past 30 years. Statistical analysis of the results showed a positive relationship between short breaks and less fatigue and productivity. No overall association was found between finer outages and better performance. Experts have found that longer breaks tend to produce better results, especially for creative or office tasks. “Our data – commented the authors – highlights the importance of suspending activities to improve the activity and well-being of workers. It will be interesting in the following studies to investigate the optimal length of breaks and the most effective behavior to be adopted during small breaks.”
