Ikea Italia has announced that it will award more than 7,000 workers a bonus of about 4.3 million euros for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s more than 600 per worker, no matter what job they hold. This award is part of the €110 million global prize that the Ingka Group, the holding company that controls most Ikea stores, will distribute in the 32 markets in which it operates with 170,000 employees.

Economic recognition added to the measures implemented by the group during the past year. On a note, the company asserts that it has guaranteed: full salary for all employees throughout the shutdown period, the ability for co-workers to request in advance the 13th and 14th benefits and severance pay (as a result of the union agreement), voluntary access to digital tools to develop one’s skills, as well as an offer of psychological support The allowance and health coverage for any pandemic-related expenses. The one-time bonus also complements existing Ingka Group bonus packages including Annual bonus “One Ikea” calculated on the performance of the company and units.
