58.8% of people diagnosed with HIV in 2022 were already living with AIDS or close to that stage. But knowing your serostatus and getting effective treatment allows you to eliminate the viral load and not transmit the virus.
November 29, 2023 – 2022 data on new HIV diagnoses in Italydeveloped by the AIDS Operations Center of the Higher Institute of Health, with the contribution of members of the Health Technical Committee of the Ministry of Health, defines the epidemiological situation in line with the situation in more developed countries. However, some persistent critical problems have also been confirmed, primarily those related to late diagnosis, and which are gradually increasing in Italy, well above the European average.
