Well the weekend is almost over, and while that’s a shame because school and work are looming in the morning, it doesn’t seem as bad as usual, because with the start of a new week, comes the start of a new NBA season. Over at Grantland, they’ve had a ton of fantastic NBA content recently, as they prepare for the start of the season. One of their new features is “X-Files” – players that are x-factors for contending teams. In the latest edition, Robert Mays wrote about the Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng. If the Bulls want a chance at knocking off the Miami Heat, they’ll need Deng to be at his best. And with Thibodeau in charge, he’ll certainly get plenty of minutes to do so.
A number of past-their-prime stars called it a career this summer, including Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Allen Iverson (officially) and Tracy McGrady. It’s always a shame to see the stars of years past hanging it up. Often times these guys hang on for longer than they should have, and as a fan it can be hard to understand why they keep giving it a shot, when they clearly don’t have the ability anymore. Over at Hickory High, Matt Cianfrone wrote about gaining a sense of understanding in regards to players not wanting to retire.
