ICYMI: Suggested Basketball Reading From Across the Web

Well the weekend is almost over, and while that’s a shame because school and work are looming in the morning, it doesn’t seem as bad as usual, because with the start of a new week, comes the start of a new NBA season. And once again, we’re here with some more reading material to get you ready for Tuesday. Check out today’s suggested basketball readings from across the web.

The X-Files: Luol Deng: By Robert Mays (@realrobertmays)

Over at Grantland, they’ve had a ton of fantastic NBA content recently, as they prepare for the start of the season. One of their new features is “X-Files” – players that are x-factors for contending teams. In the latest edition, Robert Mays wrote about the Chicago Bulls’ Luol Deng. If the Bulls want a chance at knocking off the Miami Heat, they’ll need Deng to be at his best. And with Thibodeau in charge, he’ll certainly get plenty of minutes to do so.

Unexpected Understanding: By Matt Cianfrone (@Matt_Cianfrone)

A number of past-their-prime stars called it a career this summer, including Jason Kidd, Grant Hill, Allen Iverson (officially) and Tracy McGrady. It’s always a shame to see the stars of years past hanging it up. Often times these guys hang on for longer than they should have, and as a fan it can be hard to understand why they keep giving it a shot, when they clearly don’t have the ability anymore. Over at Hickory High, Matt Cianfrone wrote about gaining a sense of understanding in regards to players not wanting to retire.
