Senator’s message for tomorrow’s demonstration in Naples
(ANSA) – NAPLES, OCTOBER 27 – Regarding the war in Ukraine, it is necessary to “pursue a ceasefire and start real and serious peace talks.” This was stated by the Senator for Life Liliana Segre in a message that will open tomorrow the Great Demonstration for Peace promoted by the Campania region of Naples. “I agree with the proposal, on the basis of your initiative, to hold a peace conference – stresses Segre – under the auspices of the United Nations and involving Europe, as well as the United States and China. However, peace must be just. The right to safety and national dignity and the guarantee of a future order of peace and coexistence between different peoples in all Eastern Europe.”
On the question of the war in Ukraine, “I feel the need to be very clear: there is an aggressor and an attacker. One cannot help but be clear on the side of Ukraine and its institutions, women, men, girls and boys, the victims of a bloody assault.
Of course, peace must be sought. We need to stop the death and destruction, we no longer want to see cities bombed, people fleeing by the thousands, infrastructures, crops, nuclear and energy plants destroyed or in grave danger. Even Russia’s use of tactical nuclear weapons is a nightmare that the international community must try to avoid in every way,” the senator wrote for life.
