The Majestic Cinemas in Tàrrega hosted today the opening of the 11th edition of the Galacticat Festival, which began on Monday and will screen 90 works on Sunday. Its director Ramón Pochaca confirmed that it is expected to be a “very strong” end to the festival with the presence of about 80 professionals from the film industry, twenty of whom will be part of the Talent Meeting and the rest will present films, short films, feature films and selected documentaries.
Bochaca made a “very positive” assessment of Galacticat’s transformation into a general film festival that stopped focusing on fantasy and horror films.
Although the start of the week was “smooth” in terms of overall attendance for the afternoon and night shows, Pushaka confirmed that for the weekend “there are a lot of bookings.”
For her part, Mayor Alba Pijuan said that “opening Galacticat to all types of cinema is a step forward for the festival that wants to attract a wider audience”. Pijuan also emphasized Galacticat’s collaboration with the city, as it did on Thursday with People’s Pride or today with the sale of the “Tardeo” of Foment Tàrrega.
Galacticat opened with a showing of the British film Tales of Babylon Directed by Pelayo de Lario, inspired by the London underworld.
