Sant Pere de Ponts is filled with music, dance and poetry in the summer of the millennium

The IEI’s Aula Magna hosted a showcase program of activities between June and August to celebrate the millennium of the current University of Sant Pere de Ponts, with several interdisciplinary proposals and a music festival with fortnightly concerts, which aims to be “able to share the millennium that is history.” Neighborhood for our city and, at the same time, revolutionaries to put culture at the center of our society’s action,” explained city mayor Josep Tapis.

To start, on June 8 (7:00 PM) he will host a concert by the prestigious international music group Tasto Solo, with the program “The Birth of Music”. The Summer Festival will offer concerts every two weeks on Fridays. On July 5 (10 p.m.) mezzo-soprano with Pontsica roots Mireya Pinto and pianist Vladislav Bronevitzky, accompanied in concert by actress Sylvia Bell, will perform “Venice, between the canals and the music.” On July 19, it will be the turn of the famous Barcelona pianist Alba Ventura, one of the most famous concert players of the moment on the Catalan scene. On August 2, the Fortuny trio (Joel Bardolet, Pau Codina and Marc Heredia) will perform “La Nit”, in collaboration with the Catalan dance company Mal Pelo; On August 16, violinist Abel Thomas (Casals Quartet) and young Emporda pianist Emma Stratton will give a concert focusing on chamber music.

Finally, the finale will be on Friday, August 30, in Plaza Sant Pere, with Mallorcan singer-songwriter María del Mar Bonet, who will give a free concert with songs from her regular repertoire and new songs from her upcoming album.
