The investigation concluded that the accident occurred and that the Berhalters testified truthfully. The American Federation confirmed that Berhalter is still among the candidates to regain the leadership of the national team and that “nothing has changed.” However, recent reports indicate that clubs such as Club America and Sparta Rotterdam are considering Berhalter as their new coach.

The Soviet Union plans to appoint a head coach by August. In the intervening season, Callaghan will oversee the squad for the upcoming Nations League Finals and Gold Cup.
