suddenly the sky
For anyone who hasn’t read what we wrote, let’s take a step back. we whiteThe killer died and ended up in heaven. No, there was neither error nor any kind of forgiveness: our criminal did not gain a place in eternal bliss, but was summoned and transformed into neon to do the dirty work of the believers, the blessed spirits who run the nine heavens.
neon work annihilation of demonsaccursed beings that haunt heaven, especially during the ten days of judgment: this is the time we have before we are hunted again, unless we become neon number one and thus obtain a full year of residence in heaven.
White is not alone and will have to try Neon Green Place RobberyYou also encounter yellow, red, violet, and a block of other neon at the same time. Those mentioned are old acquaintances of White, who hardly remember anything of the past: so the adventure will make us interact with these people, who are at the same time both friends and foes; Who can you trust?
The plot and the curtains, in Visual novel style dating simMostly comedic, with jokes, above scenes and sometimes even nonsense. But do not expect only a joyful plot: Wyatt’s stay in heaven will reveal various dark secrets, and while the smile is torn in many dialogues, there will be dramatic events. Overall, Neon White offers a simple but fun story that gives one more reason to get to the end of the game.
Run, shoot, repeat
Neon white focus is Play: Run, shoot and repeat over and over. It may seem uninteresting, however, but we assure you it’s quite the opposite: Neon White is probably one of the funniest games of recent times, combining speed with a need for accuracy.
The game is divided into levels, linear areas with an exit point: the goal is to eliminate every enemy that is in the path and reach the end; To do this, we will have a whole series of weapons on our side, represented by colored cards. This base is a katana, but using it often means that you have something wrong: the real weapons are shotguns like pistol, submachine gun, single-shot rifle, shotgun, etc. The peculiarity is related to the fact that all weapons have at least one special ability: the pistol, for example, allows us to jump, even in the air, while the bazooka becomes a hook that pulls us in the direction we aim .
use the secondary skills This means getting rid of the card, but shooting and running out of ammo has the same effect as well. However, you don’t have to imagine Neon White’s levels as shooter levels, but like those of a linear 3D platform game, where each section has a specific solution. Every few steps the game gives us exactly the card we need and we will “just” have to understand how to use it and above all how to do it while sticking to the schedule.
Each level is actually one race against time: There will be three records to beat, with the second (golden) and first (ace) raising our Neon rating, which in turn unlocks the next levels. Neon White doesn’t pretend to get all the gold or ace to progress, by eye, it takes half or a bit less of levels beaten with a record to get to the end of the plot. In our case, we all got Gold/Ace until the final quests unlocked: so the difficulty isn’t at all blocking.
Moreover, even if you are not a fan fishing log And if you want to settle on the bottom line, you’ll still have a reason to go back to the different levels: once you’re done, a gift pack appears inside which is necessary to unlock dialogues between the different characters we’ve met and secondary quests in an alternate style and more difficult than those in the main plot.
The Gift boxes They are very cleverly hidden inside the levels and require a good look but above all to think about exploring in an alternative way. Since the completion time is secondary in this case, searching for gifts transforms the experience dramatically. Which has become more than just a puzzle platform where we have to figure out how to get around the original design to get the cards just needed to get to the gift.
In general, the level design It’s always incredible: there are often also shortcuts that we didn’t notice the first time (getting gold unlocks a hint in the level that helps us see them) and by rebooting we can have fun learning a new way to complete the road. These often last for several tens of seconds, so fail and restart doesn’t matter. On PC, uploads are instant within levels, so don’t worry about wasting time.
Unfortunately, we can’t speak for Nintendo Switch Editionthat we haven’t tried. We don’t know if performance, Granite on PC, is valid on the Nintendo mini console: 60 frames per second is mandatory for Neon White and the lack of it may prevent enjoyment of the game.
In addition to, Play with the console It may be unsatisfactory: the accuracy of the mouse and keyboard is not superior, and Neon White needs efficient movement; We hit a record more than once after a few tries with a few hundredths of a second, and based on our testing with an Xbox controller, we couldn’t do it with analog sticks.
We completed Neon White in just under nine hours, and nearly got gold/ace, but left most of the gifts behind. For 100% we think playtime is easily close to 15-18 hours. There is also a mode in which all levels of the game are played in succession, with the addition of times: those who like to search for records will have to spend a lot of time to get perfect times.
- Fun, instant, tough enough
- Awesome level design
- Extending life the smart way
- Playing with the controller can be frustrating
