This week, the Igualada City Council presented the official schedule for the Festa Major 2024, which will take place from August 19 to 26, with an expanded agenda of activities organized by the Council. This Thursday, the youth organization La Coll@nada presented its alternative to the Festa Major, under the slogan: “In the face of collapse, we are a refuge”. It is a complement to the official poster, and some will even see the official as a complement to the alternative. The Coll@nada initiative aims to be a “refuge” for young people from the “autonomous administration” and its motto is “solidarity and resistance”. The program focuses on cultural and protest activities. “It is a project carried out with enthusiasm and commitment,” they explained from the entity.

As part of the presentation, La Coll@nada criticizes the city council: “They ask us to put the logo of the Igualada City Council on the poster, as if it were a way to legitimize their participation in activities that, since always, they have made clear that they were independent and self-managed. They also denounce the bureaucracy that “strangles” the right to free organization.

Another highlight is the non-mixed committee that ensures safety and equality during the party. They consider that “the committee is key to ensuring that the party is a safe and equal place for everyone,” confirms the representative of La Coll@nada.
