Tours and live concerts have replaced record sales as the big niche music business of the day. All concerts are now sold as if they were the last, as an exclusive treat, appealing to the phrase “I was there”. We hate it when our favorite group announces an indefinite hiatus or a year off, even if we realize that they take our hair a little by storm and that, as always, there were gaps between albums. The logical space needed to create new songs.
At the end of November, Stay Homas announced an indefinite hiatus preceded by next year’s tour that will culminate in January 2025 in Barcelona. More than a year left. Suba de Cabra, who has retired and come back, and looks like he’ll ultimately stay, says he’ll release an album in November 2024. He’s been touring since January and has singles out like candy to keep fans talking and tickets sold. Antònia Font folded, but she is back on the road, she doesn’t want to go back again. And while Oques Grasses is making a comeback after a brief one-year hiatus, now poised to reappear in 2025 is Dr. Prats, who this weekend played four farewell concerts. Maybe it’s a good commercial hook. I will try that too. I will stop writing columns until next Sunday, as I am very tired and need air. In the meantime, enjoy this. It’s exclusive.
