Germany: “Ready to act if necessary”

Germany is closely following the tensions between Serbia and Kosovo, and is ready to act “if necessary.” This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius. Pistorius said: “We are monitoring the situation,” expressing his hope that the escalation will stop and not ruling out an increase in the contribution of German soldiers to the NATO peacekeeping mission. “The withdrawal of Serb forces from the border with Kosovo would be a welcome step” by the US government. This was stated by State Department spokesman Matthew Miller at a press conference, recalling the conversation that took place on Friday between US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic.
