He was healed for science, not for work. Pellegrino: “They told me about discrimination against former cancer patients”

He was healed for science, not for work. Pellegrino: “They told me about discrimination against former cancer patients”

The Regional Councilor for Campania Tommaso Pellegrino, from Italia Viva, continues his fight against discrimination against those with oncological diseases and calls on anyone to report punitive situations. There are still plenty of job opportunities that are denied to candidates with a history of cancer, as happened to a woman named Lucia, who was denied the opportunity to enter the world of finance because she was a former cancer patient.

For Pellegrino, it is important to adopt policies that avoid discrimination and ensure fair access to job opportunities, because in order to gain access to the world of work “skills and experience must be assessed and taken into account, not medical history, which remains discrimination instead”. .

Pellegrino also joined the national campaign “I am not my tumor”, promoted by the AIOM Foundation (Italian Society of Medical Oncology) and is one of the signatories of the proposal presented at the Regional Council to recognize equal treatment for people who have been affected by oncological diseases.
