Attilio Scienza, one of the most recognizable names in the national wine scene, will be in Taranto on June 12-13 to open the beginning of the ninth edition of Due Mari WineFest (which will take place July 28-30 at Mon Rêve Refuge).

The two-day event, organized in collaboration with Offwine, aims to educate about the world of wine and enrich the regional marketing project involving Taranto.

“We want Due Mari WineFest not to be seen as a simple food and wine event, but as an opportunity to tell Taranto through food and wine by encouraging wine tourism itineraries,” The organizers commented Stefania Raisa, Fabio and Andrea Romandini.

The event is open to wineries in the Apulian region, to those who commit to Due Mari WineFest and will be organized as follows.

At noon on June 13, at 17.00, the organization and the companies that have joined the initiative will accompany Attilio Senza on a tour to discover Taranto from the sea on boats of the Junian Dolphin Reserve.

However, at 7.00 pm Scienza will hold a conference titled “Myth and DNA in the Origin of Canelian Vineyards”. Speaking with him will be Pierpaolo Sirch, Production Manager at Feudi San Gregorio and Co-Founder of Simonit and Sirch, and Nicola Bello, CEO of Offwine and a consultant who specializes in wine science.

The meeting will be moderated by Angela Giassi, Ice Bartender. At the end of the conference, guests will be offered an aperitif.

The meeting will take place at Palazzo Amati, home of the Jonian Dolphin Society, which has been collaborating with Due Mari WineFest for years. Due Mari WineFest, through the initiatives it has been implementing since 2016, not only promotes the region by associating it with food and wine, but also supports Jonian Dolphin research activity, sharing mission and values.

Who is Attilio Senza?

Born in Serra Ricco (Genoa) in March 1945. Graduated with distinction in Agricultural Sciences at the Faculty of Agriculture of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart of Piacenza in a. 1968-1969.

From 2009 to 2014 he was Head of the Degree Course in Viticulture and Oenology at the University of Milan, holder of the Course on Genetic Improvement of Viticulture and Regional Viticulture until 2015, the year of his retirement.
