Chris Rock says no to running the 2023 Oscars

About what happened on that infamous night of the Oscars last year, Chris Rock actually spoke on some of his shows in a sarcastic way. A month and a half after the slap, for example, at the Royal Albert Hall in London, he joked to his audience, “Well.. I’ve recovered most of my hearing.” However, in July, guest Kevin Hart admitted on stage at the NC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, that he closed the loop for good and ironically as always: “Whoever said words hurt were never struck in the face.”

However, when asked about that night, Rock never wanted to make any comment that he was still in the process of “processing what happened.”

In July, Will Smith also broke the silence and shared a video on his YouTube page in which he publicly apologized for the slap. “I called Chris and the message came back that he is not ready to talk and when he is, he will call him. So I will tell you Chris, I apologize to you. My behavior was unacceptable,” he said as he sat in front of the camera and added, “I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I saw an interview with him…that’s one of the things I didn’t realize at the time. I didn’t think how many people I hurt at the time. So I want to apologize to Chris’ mother. I want to apologize to Chris’ family. Especially Tony Rock. We had a wonderful relationship. Tony Rock was my great friend. This is most likely irreparable.”
