It’s an exciting time in Minnesota.
Even though the Timberwolves have officially parted ways with Kevin Love (who is widely regarded as the best power forward in the NBA today), they got a damn good return on him: the number one overall pick in this year’s draft, Andrew Wiggins, the number one pick in last year’s draft, Anthony Bennett, and a $6.3 million trade exception. To add to that, they also traded away Alexey Shved, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute and the Miami Heat’s 2015 first-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers for Thaddeus Young, and they get to welcome in their lottery pick who has pogo sticks for legs, Zach LaVine, too.
The trade may have placed the Timberwolves on the rebuilding track, but the future is bright and their roster is stacked with exciting prospects with a ton of upside. Although a lot of losing is likely to ensure over the next few seasons, watching the development of those young players is surely going to give the fans something to cheer about.
So with that, Flip Saunders, the head coach and the President of Basketball Operations, is giving people in Minnesota an excuse to skip work today to welcome in the new additions of the team.
If you don’t take him up on the offer, people in Minnesota, I don’t know what to say.
