Atlanta Hawks Poke Fun at Dallas Cowboys’ Tony Romo

Less than two full months into the NBA season and Twitter has already allowed the world to witness the Portland Trail Blazers mocking the lowly Eastern Conference, an epic conversation between star big-men Roy Hibbert and LaMarcus Aldridge, and now, the next great tweet.

After Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo threw two interceptions in the final three minutes against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, the ‘Boys went on to lose the pivotal game 37-36. Romo and his poor play instantly became the easiest target of the night on social media, and the Atlanta Hawks opted to join in on the fun.

Ouch. Horford knocked down a buzzer-beater game-winner to help the Hawks defeat the Washington Wizards on Friday night. While Atlanta is clearly just making some fun, it is also accurate.

From Sports Illustrated:

According to NBA.com/stats, Horford is 13-for-23 (56.5 percent) in clutch situations this season, defined by the last five minutes of regulation (and overtime) in which either team leads by five points or less. Horford’s 56.5 percent clip trails only Spurs guard Tony Parker (15-for-23, 65.2 percent) among players with at least 20 field goal attempts in the clutch so far this season.

Despite Horford’s help in the clutch, the Hawks are 12-12 on the season. Due to the poor play of the East, however, that record currently gives them the three seed in the conference, while it would leave them with the tenth seed and without a playoff spot in the competitive Western Conference.
