Aviation holding company IAG has launched a reshuffle of top executives at major Spanish airlines. Iberia and Vueling will have new presidents from April, the group revealed at the conference with analysts on the occasion of the presentation of annual results.
International Airlines Group (IAG) has elected Marco Sansavini as the new CEO and President of Iberia, who until now held the top executive position at Vueling and returns to Iberia after three years, where he was Commercial Director until 2020.
The new CEO and President of Vueling will be Carolina Martinoli, who until now was Director of People, Corporate and Sustainability at IAG. The changes mean that Fernando Candela will no longer be president of Iberia – a position he has held on an interim basis since May 2023 – and will remain within the group as CEO of Level Airlines.
For its part, IAG – which, in addition to Iberia, Vueling and Liv, includes British Airways and Aer Lingus – achieved its results thanks to a revitalization of demand, in the midst of a tourism boom. The company achieved an after-tax profit of 2,655 million euros in 2023, which means multiplying six more than 402 million euros in the previous year.
