Catalonia has one of the largest business networks in all of Spain with companies from all sectors, both national and international. However, it is also very diverse throughout its territory, with the four provinces differing greatly from each other. For this reason, although we recently learned which companies issued the most invoices in Catalonia, things change when broken down by province.
Barcelona
In case BarcelonaSEAT, with its plant in Martorell, is the company that issues the invoices by the largest amount and by a wide margin, with a total of 8,784 million euros. Despite the difficulties posed by the pandemic, and closing 2021 with red numbers, the company has re-floated earnings and is on an upward trend.
Its commitment to electrification and strengthening the luxury Cupra brand gives it good news. In addition, it achieved the second best numbers in its 73-year history.

Currently, they have over 12,000 workers at the Martorell plant and have an annual production of 480,000 vehicles. For this reason, it is considered the largest car manufacturer in Spain. They export 45 different models of cars to more than 70 countries in the world.
Girona
If we move to Girona, we find the company Lleida bonÀarea. The supermarket chain achieved sales of 2,822 million euros in 2022. After more than 60 years of operation and with more than 500 establishments opened, its activity that generates the most money is food.

However, a large part of its business is also due to the production of feed to feed animals, resulting in an income of €600 million. In addition, they have an integrated operation, from field to production and direct sales, which adds added value to the company.
Lida
Regarding LidaThe scale changes radically with another company dedicated to food, Noel Alimentaria. Headquartered in La Garrotxa, it feels like a small town with 2,000 workers working in a province of 55,000. The company represents approximately 16% of the region's GDP and closed 2022 with a turnover of €568 million.

The meat products division is most prominent in its activity, with sales reaching 537 million euros, which represents half of sales abroad. The company invested 10 million euros in the factory in San Juan de les Fontes to acquire new machinery and enable the cameras to store products destined for the United States.
Tarragona
Finally, in the southern province of Catalonia, we find the Swedish multinational company Essity. Its activity is related to cleanliness and healthIt has a presence in more than 150 countries and has more than 46,000 workers around the world. Of these, 1,200 work in Spain.
Global trading volume reaches 12,200 million euros. Currently, they manufacture and market brands and products like Tena, Tork, Leukoplast, Jobst, Actimove and others.

The company has been present in Catalonia since 1976 through its factory in Puigpelat (Alt Camp). In the 2000s, other plants were added to the rest of Spain, such as Gran Canaria or Navarre. Its production capacity currently stands at 850 million rolls of toilet paper and 1 billion diapers.
