Provided a group of players it causes to me Microsoft for Preventing the acquisition of Activision BlizzardAs it will harm them and consumers in general.
The lawsuit registered in the San Francisco court involves 10 people, each of whom claims to play on different platforms. So there is no shortage of PlayStation players, but also Xbox.
“Microsoft already controls one of the largest and most popular gaming systems in the industry,” the lawsuit documents state. “The acquisition will give Microsoft an unrivaled position in the gaming industry, making it the company with the largest number of must-have games and iconic franchises.”
The lawsuit lists all of Microsoft’s previous acquisitions from 2014 through the 2020 acquisition of Zenimax Media (Bethesda). It also incorrectly refers to the acquisition of Rare in 2022, as it was completed in 2002, obviously a small “typo”. in the text.
The plaintiffs allege that Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard It would hurt a large part of the audiencebecause “it can dilute competition in any of the major markets, resulting in higher prices, less innovation and creativity, fewer choices for consumers and other effective anti-competitive factors.”
The document also speaks of less competition in the labor market, as employees will have fewer options if the maneuver is successful.
“This is particularly troubling given that Activision Blizzard is currently embroiled in lawsuits by California Department of Employment and Housing employees who allege that the company has engaged in sex discrimination and sexual harassment,” the document states.
This lawsuit is clearly less significant than the one brought by the US Federal Trade Commission, which has every intention of blocking Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
