The multiple accident on the AP-7 road in Subirats (Alt Penedès) cut only one lane but caused congestion 20 kilometers in the direction of Tarragona, according to the Catalan Traffic Service (SCT), which recommends alternative routes such as the A-2, N-340 or C-32. The accident warning was received at 09.42 at km 186.6 from the AP-7 when a collision occurred between six vehicles, one of which overturned.
Five crews from the Generalitat Fire Department moved to the site and worked to extricate two vehicle occupants. The Emergency Medical System (SEM) reported three casualties: two seriously injured and taken to Bellvitge Hospital and one minor taken to Villafranca del Penedes Hospital.
Initially, vehicles were only able to drive along the sidewalk in the direction of Tarragona, but lanes were gradually opened throughout the morning. At midday, only one lane remained closed in the area, but delays reached 19.7 kilometres, from Subirates to Castelbesbal (Ouest Valles).
Complications on AP-7 at Pike's Camp due to the removal of two damaged trucks
In the same AP-7, Saturday morning was somewhat complicated between Baix Camp and Baix Ebre due to the removal of two heavy trucks that were injured: one yesterday, Friday, due to strong winds and the other, on Thursday, involved in the fatal accident in Vandellòs and l'Hospitalet de l'Infant. The road is closed in an 8.3 km section between Vandellòs and Mont-roig del Camp and mandatory diversions are in place via Exit 38 towards the A-7. In contrast, the N-340 accumulates slow traffic and stops for up to 11.5 kilometers in the area between Amitilla de Mar and Hospitalet de L'Enfant.
