Konami Did not renew the field Silent Hill official website. We don’t know if it was a voluntary choice or an exciting oversight, but the fact is that the Japanese company no longer has any rights to the domain “www.silenthill.com”. And someone took the opportunity to buy it and modify the portal to your liking, to do a little joke.
At the moment of accessing the above site, what appears is a single page with a black background in the middle Tweet from Masahiro Ito which states “I wish I hadn’t done *** on Pyramid Head”.
For starters, Ito was the art director and designer of the characters, monsters, and settings for some of the games in the Silent Hill series, including the original trilogy. The tweet, which at first glance might appear to be a fake account joke, is 100% true and was posted on February 20, 2022, accompanied by a second post adding, “The reason is not that I wasn’t paid. The statues… I didn’t get paid for these.” In short, dig into Konami.
As a user on Neogaf points out, this isn’t the first time Konami has “forgotten” about renewing the domain of the official Silent Hill website. It also happened in 2019, but apparently no one came forward to buy it at that time.
