God of War Ragnarok is getting classic Bombardment of negative reviews on Metacritic, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear. It is possible that there is an ongoing campaign to discredit the game in light of The Game Awards 2022, although it must be said that in this case it will be a bit late, given that the final results were decided days ago.
By negative reviews we mean that many rate Sony Santa Monica game giving it 0/10 for different reasons. Some reviews talk about the heavy focus on the filmed sequences and the narrative aspect. Others mention technical problems of an unspecified nature. Still others praise the game but give it minimal scores. The result is that within a few hours the user rating dropped to 7.9 for the PS5 version and 6.1 for the PS4 version (at the time of writing).
Some negative reviews point directly to The Game Awards 2022, to the point of making it clear that there is a campaign underway in light of the event. After all, the timing is dicey at least, given that God of War Ragnarok has been around for weeks and hasn’t suffered anything like that yet.
As we said earlier, the initiative however does not make sense, because voting has been closed for days now and even if the users vote is reduced to 0, it will not have a direct impact on the outcome. After all, those who organize such campaigns don’t have to be particularly clever on their own, so let’s imagine they didn’t think to mess it all up.
