I met Jordi Ponti many years ago, perhaps thirty years ago, at the old headquarters of Empúries and Edicions 62, on Carrer del Peu de la Creu. It was introduced to me by Xavier Folch and announced the imminent arrival of a race writer. I was going to present an original, and I don't remember for sure now, perhaps he was finishing one of the translations he published there or he was simply there to talk about literature with Jordi Cornodella. He had not yet published what would be his literary debut, those wonderful stories of Bill Darmadillo. Much later, we met at the Frankfurt Fair in 2007. Apart from events taking place at the same fairground, we shared a “cultural evening” at the Literaturhaus in Stuttgart, with our mutual friend (since then) Michael Ebmeier. There I also met his partner, Steffi Kremser, a director and writer.
