She explained that after separating from her marriage, she suffered from anxiety, depression, insomnia, and panic attacks, in addition to being exposed to financial problems. The woman added that she felt like she was married to a stranger who inflicted on her “the most horrific and violent abuse.” The jury convicted her husband of 11 counts of sexual assault by “vaginal penetration with various objects.” According to the state, the woman was unconscious and unable to give consent when her husband carried out the rapes.
An investigator told prosecutors that the abuse came to light when the woman discovered photos her husband had taken of her on his computer in March 2019. She asked him to leave the family home and filed a complaint. The couple has been married for more than 20 years and has children together.
