CaixaBank has been listed, for the twelfth consecutive year, in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the world’s best-ranked entities in terms of sustainability. This index evaluates the behavior of companies under ESG criteria, and CaixaBank was considered the 13th most distinguished financial institution in sustainability in the world with a score of 82 points, out of 200 banks invited to be part of DJSI World. This position, at the same time, represents an improvement of eleven places with respect to the same ranking of the previous year and positions CaixaBank as the only Spanish bank to improve in this new edition.

Among the three areas evaluated by the analyst: economic, environmental and social, CaixaBank received a very prominent increase in the environmental aspect, with an increase in score of five points compared to the previous year, due to the positive evaluation received of the bank’s decarbonization strategy. Within its Sustainable Banking Plan, CaixaBank wants to mobilize €64 billion of sustainable financing between 2022 and 2024, which includes, in addition to providing capital to finance energy transition initiatives, purposes with social impact, such as microloans for students, the self-employed, microenterprises or families. And new companies that create jobs.

The authority is also committed to reaching 413,300 MicroBank beneficiaries. CaixaBank ended the first nine months of the year with profits of €3,659 million, a figure that represented a 48.2% increase compared to the same period last year. According to data sent to the National Securities Market Authority, during the third quarter of 2023, the company obtained profits of 1,522 million (+69.9%). Income from banking activity increased by 34.3% to 11,128 million, mainly due to the interest margin, which rose by 60.7% to 7,364 million. In contrast, the net commission margin decreased by 5.3%, which is 2,741 million. Thus, gross profit margin closed the period at 10,689 million, up 28.9% from last year. CaixaBank paid 373 million euros in bank taxes.
