Brossa’s play “The Desert Policeman” is being performed for the first time

The original talent of Barcelona poet Joan Brosa (1919-1998) is evident in El Cop Desert, the first play written by the multi-talented Catalan artist around 1940. It has never been performed until now. The characters and scenes created appear in a state between sleep and wakefulness. From a talking plant to a human worm, this unconventional creativity, with a touch of madness, is on display until the 28th at Fundació Brossa – Center de les Arts Lliures.

This piece, written by the poet when he was 25 years old, is overflowing with imagination, surrealism and ideas developed by the restless Ingenu project under the direction of Ana Pérez and Andres Corceiro. They and five artists are responsible for bringing to life this hybrid work that combines elements of dance, magic, circus, music and the whimsical sound sculptures of Gerard Marsal Nortje, composer of music and sound space.
