In the coming days, Imserso users will receive a letter to participate in the travel program. The problem will come when they choose the Valencian Community as a destination, since many institutions still do not know if they will participate in the program because – as they say – it is not profitable for them.
The government’s travel programme for retirees, Emserso, faces uncertainty this autumn. There will be the same places as last year, almost 900,000, but the regional hotel association expects a third of hotels to refuse to participate this year, because it is not profitable for them. “Our costs are now close to 34 euros per user and the franchisee offers 24 euros,” explains Miguel March, Hosbec representative in Valencia and Castellón.
In the province of Castelló, seven of the twelve hotels expected to receive these travelers are located in Peñíscola. The Ashotur Association, the association of hoteliers and tourism entrepreneurs in the province, is still negotiating the terms, because hosting a client of the program means losses for the hotel. “For a hotel to be fully operational, it is not possible to allocate ten euros from its own pocket for each client,” says Francisco Ribera, president of Agretur de Peñíscola and member of Ashotur.
The aid is the same as last year, but everything has become more expensive. The hiring rate and the price of raw materials have increased by more than 5% compared to the previous year in the tourism sector. This increase is not reflected in the price that borrowers see, not only hotels, but also other affected services, such as transport companies or tourist visits, which are also covered by the program.
For users, it remains a very nice option. The condition for participation is that you are retired, but you must also register your age, financial status and whether you have traveled in previous campaigns.
