A month of events of science, play and imagination in Naples

From December 8, 2022 to January 8, 2023 Città della Scienza will wear the colors of Christmas for its audience, made up of many local families, but increasingly also of many tourists from all over Italy and abroad.


“We want this Christmas, which falls at a time that is certainly complicated – announced Riccardo Villari, President of Città della Senza – Be in spite of everything as calm and cheerful as possible; And we want to make our contribution through many activities aimed primarily at young people, without giving up our mission to spread science and technology.”


During this month, Christmas and its traditions will be the subject of all the main laboratory activities, which characterize the interactive museum’s weekend programming. It will also be possible to visit the new temporary exhibitions: the ‘Spazio al Futuro’, promoted by the University of Naples Federico II in collaboration with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics – INFN, engages the public on an exciting journey to discover the universe and the physical laws that regulate its operation (among others there Interactive exhibits: Expanding Universe, Dark Matter and Black Hole) “Aquae – The Future is in the Ocean” is the National Research Council-CNR exhibit dedicated to the oceans. Through models and installations, it demonstrates the main characteristics of the marine environment, with particular attention to the use and conservation of its resources for sustainable development; “Bonelli Story, looking at Procida, a sea of ​​comics” is instead the anthological exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Sergio Bonelli Editor. Three hundred works that trace the history of the publishing house: from Tex to Dylan Dog, through Zagor and Dragonero, to create an amazing experience full of rarities and curiosities about the series that made the history of Italian comics. In addition, there is a special section dedicated to the record of “Il Commissario Ricciardi a Fumetti”, created as a tribute to the Procida Capital of Culture (the latter has a separate ticket, full price 5 € reduced 3 € discounted by 1 € by presenting the Città della Scienza ticket at the office tickets for the same day).

The planetarium will present its audience with new live shows dedicated to the sky in December; Saturday December 10 at 5 pm there will also be a screening of the documentary film STAR STUFF by Milad Tashir, a journey that touches three of the most important astronomical observatories in the world, located in the most remote corners of the planet: the Atacama desert of Chile, the Grand Caro in South Africa and the island of La Palma in the Atlantic Ocean; And on Friday December 16th at 4 p.m., as part of the second National Space Day promoted by ASI and the Italian government, a free show (reservations required) in which ASI’s Angelo Zinzi will talk about the NASA “DART” mission, the first ever attempted by mankind. Shifting asteroid orbit.


According to tradition, the Epiphany will close the Christmas period with the great Befana Festival, on January 6 from 9 to 17 (single ticket 7 €) with many scientific shows, entertainment for the little ones and many nice surprises, always in the name of Science and Technology.


During the Christmas period, the Città della Scienza interactive museum will observe the following times:
from Tuesday to Friday from 9 to 16;
Saturday, Sunday and holidays (including Boxing Day) from 9 to 17;
on December 24 and 31 from 9 to 14;
Extraordinary opening on Monday January 2nd from 9 to 16.
The museum is closed on December 25 and January 1.
