Borrows, | Just over a year after the purchase was announced, work began in January this year on the new Casal Popular Boira Baixa, located at the crossroads between Carrer Enric Delaris and Plaça Flama del Canigó.
This is the first phase of the remodeling of the building acquired by the grassroots organization. In the coming months, a restaurant, bar and hall will be launched and adapted for various meetings and gatherings. The building structure is now being rehabilitated and an annex constructed. On the ground floor, there will be a dining and meeting space, and work is underway with the aim of operating it between the spring and summer of the same year. The cost of this stage is 150 thousand euros, as Buera Baixa explains, and to finance it they requested a loan from a financial services cooperative. Previously, the cost of purchasing the building amounted to 107,438 euros, while the cost of completing the terrace last April amounted to 5,858 euros.
Once this first phase is completed, the first floor will be rehabilitated, where the offices of agencies or organizations will be located, in addition to a small library, the archive of the Popular Center, and others.
