However, Gmail limits the number of emails retrieved from its servers to 50 per request. So, Clicking “Select All” will highlight the first 50 emailsAvailable in your inbox. By clicking on it again, another 50 emails can be selected.
Once they are stored in the local cache, clicking “Select All” will mark them all, even if the quantity is greater than 50. Pressing the “Unmark All” button will unmark all highlighted emails.
At the moment, it is not known if and when this new option will be available to all users, but this is still a promising sign that this may happen in the short term.
