PRAGUE (Reuters) – The European Union has asked the United States to treat electric cars, batteries and sustainable energy devices produced in the European Union and sold in the United States the same way it does in Canada and Mexico.

This was stated by the Czech Minister of Industry Josef Sekila.

Brussels has complained that US inflation-reduction law effectively discriminates against producers in the European Union, offering tax breaks to consumers on goods produced in North America, but not on those produced in the eurozone.

The European Union claims that, unlike the United States, it offers the same tax breaks for goods produced in the bloc and in the United States in these sectors.

Speaking after a meeting between EU trade ministers and US Trade Representative Catherine Taye in Prague, Sekila, whose country holds the EU’s rotating presidency, told a press conference that there is a will on both sides to reach an agreement.
