Whatsapp has become more social: the community function is born

“Community Messages” –

Parent company Meta announces the new face of the still-closed messaging platform. There will be no community search function that will remain private.

“With today’s launch, we’ve gone even further by allowing people to connect not only with friends and closest contacts, but also with all the different communities that are a part of their lives – explains Mark Zuckerberg.

– We will create community messaging functionality for Messenger, Facebook and Instagram as well. “

Possible uses –

To give an example, in a school environment, it can be used to put administrators, students, and parents belonging to three different groups in contact at the same time to exchange important communications about activities, schedules, critical issues, and much more in one “supergroup”.

Similar use of Whatsapp as a bulletin board can also be adopted in a corporate environment or even between entities and organizations.

Alerts – The difference between groups and communities is that in the latter case only administrators are able to send messages (called “alerts)”.

. Subscribers and members of individual groups added can only read chats without commenting. “This way, you will avoid unnecessary or overloaded connections,” WhatsApp explains, explaining that, as in individual and group chats, community chats are protected by end-to-end encryption, so that no user outside rooms can access the messages.

other news –

Functions will also be implemented within the groups, which make up the community: it will be possible to reply to messages with emojis, send files up to 2 GB and make voice calls involving up to 32 people, and administrators will be able to delete unwanted messages.
