Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves have had an up and down season so far, and after a loss Wednesday night, Love let his frustration be known by calling out two of his teammates.
The Timberwolves suffered a tough loss Wednesday, losing 104-103 at home to the Phoenix Suns because of Gerald Green’s go-ahead jumper with 3.9 seconds left. The loss brought the Wolves back under .500 to 17-18, and they sit 2.5 games out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. After the game, Love voiced that he didn’t like how two teammates sulked on the bench during timeouts as opposed to joining the team huddle.
“We can’t have two guys sitting at the end of the bench, who play good minutes, just sitting there and not getting up at timeouts. We all need to be in this together. That kind of pisses me off. We’re supposed to be a team,” Kevin Love said (via Nate Sandel)
Love didn’t mention any names, but two role players who didn’t get off the bench during timeouts were J.J. Barea and Dante Cunnigham. Love added that these players would have gotten on him for this if he did the same thing, stating that he expects more from them and they should expect more from themselves.
Not only did the Wolves lose, but Love struggled from the field, scoring just 15 points on 4-20 shooting. Barea had eight points, two assists and two turnovers while Cunnigham contributed just two points in 11 minutes.

Being a first round pick comes with certain expectations that alludes those that go in the second round or even undrafted. To us, a first round pick means some sort of long term solution that steadily measures out a remedy for what ails a team until that weakness has been fully strengthened. As far as expectations go, being sent down to the D-League is not one of the expectations we hold for a first round pick, but especially a lottery pick.
