The Toronto Raptors are Atlantic Division champions for the first time since the 2006-2007 season and are in the playoffs for the first time since the 2007-2008 season. A large part of the Raptors’ success has been due to the play of point guard, Kyle Lowry, whose All Star worthy numbers and play have pushed the Raps into the postseason. In a recent SLAM magazine profile on Lowry, the point guard touches on how it wasn’t all of his doing, it took a total team effort for the Toronto Raptors to make the playoffs:
We take a little bit from everybody on our team. From me, every single night I know these guys are gonna go to war for me, and in the same way they know I’m gonna go to war for them. Everybody takes a little something from everybody, and it builds an uncanny, cool team.
Lowry also briefly talks about the importance of John Salmons and DeMar DeRozan but reveled that backup guard, Greivis Vasquez plays a crucial role on the playoff bound Raptors:
If Vasquez’s regular season swag is one reason why Lowry and the rest of the Raptors have been playing so well this season, just imagine what his swag will be like in the playoffs.
