Euroleague Qualifying Rounds Begin Tomorrow

Until the NBA gets it together, Saving the Skyhook will be covering Euroleague action as best it can. Keep in mind that I am not Fran Fraschilla. I do not have a creepy amount of knowledge of foreign basketball. When it comes to international ball, I have watched several Olympics, this year’s Eurobasket, this year’s FIBA Americas and last year’s FIBA World Championship. So I have seen many Euroleague players in action, but not in the context of their club teams.

The competition system in Euroleague is very different from the NBA. 22 teams will already be participating in the Euroleague regular season. A qualifying round is held from September 29 to October 2 to round out the field with 24 teams. The qualifying round consists of two eight-team tournaments. The winner of each bracket qualifies for the Euroleague regular season. The tournament is single elimination.

Hello fans of Saving the Skyhook (Skyhookers? STSers? Neither are very flattering, so let’s just stick with fans).

I’m Ian Segovia. Formerly, I blogged at the ESPN TrueHoop Network site, Bucksketball. Currently, I still blog at Bucksketball, but now I have taken editing duties here.
