(Ansa) – Rome, December 24 – This Christmas, “We will celebrate our holidays! As always. We will smile and be happy. As always. There is only one difference. We will not wait for a miracle. We make it ourselves.” This is the message of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, in his wishes for a Merry Christmas to Orthodox Christians from the Western rites, noting that all holidays this year have a “bitter taste” for Ukrainians because of the war.
“There may be empty chairs. Our homes and streets can’t be so bright. And Christmas bells don’t ring as loud as air raid sirens, or worse, gunfire and explosions,” the president said.
These holidays “we meet in difficult circumstances.
Someone will see the first star in the sky over Bakhmut, Rubizhne and Krymina today … Someone will celebrate the holiday in other people’s homes – the houses of Ukrainians who gave shelter to Ukrainians … Someone will hear (Ukrainian song) Shedryck in another language – these are Warsaw, Berlin, London, New York, Toronto and many more Other cities and countries.
Someone will spend this Christmas in captivity, the President added, “but let them remember that we also came for our people, we will return freedom to all Ukrainian men and women. Wherever we are, we will be together today. Wish. One for all. And we will feel joy. One for all. And we will understand The truth. One for all.” (deals).
