In the second week of January, a businesswoman gathered at her home in the Upper District a group of people related to cycling with some city council representatives. The goal was to seal the start of the Tour de France from Barcelona. Tour director Christian Prudhomme was in attendance. ASO Cycling Director, Pierre-Yves Thault; La Vuelta director, Javier Guillén; La Volta Director Rubén Pires; City Councilor David Escudi and Director Albert Dalmau. The appointment was essential, but a snag arose. Mayor Jaume Colbone had been home since the previous night with a fever of about 40 degrees.
