The mystery surrounding the Marmadak family thickens, with two of them killed in June and shot dead on the third weekend.
Alex Murdoch, a well-known lawyer from Hampton, South Carolina, received at least one shot in the head while changing the wheel of his car on a secluded road.
Authorities said he was taken to hospital for treatment for superficial injuries.
The incident comes three months after Murdoch’s wife Margaret, 52, and her son Paul, 22, were killed.
The two were shot several times before being found by their father, USA Today reported.
No arrests were made in the case, in which Alex Murdoch provides $ 100,000 for any information provided to police.

Murdoch’s name was already in the headlines in February 2019, when the youngest son in the family, Paul, was killed in a boating accident on the Mallory Beach, 19.
The young man, who was accused of driving the boat while weak, was awaiting trial before murder.

Mr Murdoch announced he was entering a drug rehabilitation center to fight drug abuse, which had been exacerbated by the killings.
“The murders of my wife and my son brought about one of the worst times of my life. I made many decisions that I truly regret,” he said in a statement.
“I’m very sorry for hurting my family members and my co-workers.”
