This is his last trip to the United States as Prime Minister. Mario Draghi will be from September 19 to 22 in New York for the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. It is the first fully in-person UN General Assembly since the start of the Covid pandemic, with world leaders returning to New York (after the hybrid edition last year) to discuss some of the world’s biggest crises, beginning with the conflict in Ukraine. Still uncertain is a possible duo with Biden. The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Foreign Minister Marina Sereni, Education Minister Patrizio Bianchi and Environmental Transformation Minister Roberto Cingolani.
Global Statesman Award 2022
The program includes participation in the 57th Annual Prize Dinner at the Pierre Hotel on Monday 19 September at approximately 7 pm (local time), where the World Statesman Award 2022 will be held at 8:45 pm to the premiere, who will deliver a speech .
Speech to the United Nations General Assembly
On the morning of September 20, Draghi will participate in the opening of the general debate of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The Prime Minister will reiterate the Italian position of supporting Ukraine, which is being attacked by Russia, along with NATO. At approximately 11.15am, the Prime Minister will greet during the opening session of the series “Youth4Climate: Powering Action” (Jay Wings – Broadway). In the afternoon, a meeting with the President of the UN General Assembly, Tshapa Korosi, is on the agenda at the UN Building where Draghi will deliver his speech at the General Assembly at approximately 7.45pm. On the afternoon of Wednesday, September 21, Draghi always meets at the United Nations building, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
