Dybala’s statements after Roma and Empoli match

Paulo Dybala spoke to Sky at the end of the Roma-Empoli match, on the second day of the Italian League.

Here are his words.

How did you experience this day after your stay in Rome?

“I tried to live it like the others. You have to be professional and focused to do what the coach asks of us. Today we were not very good at doing what we did during the week. We made a lot of mistakes. We have to keep working, let’s hope the market closes quickly so we know who we are and who we will be together all year.”

This team has so much quality, how do you find the right path?

“We all have to try to understand the mistakes we made and look at the mistakes we made. In my opinion, there were many mistakes on a tactical level, as well as on a technical and individual level. They were trivial mistakes, and in the end we tried to turn the game around but it was too late.”

After staying, do you feel more responsible?

“In what sense?”

Meaning if I feel more pressure towards you.

“No, I don’t feel that my choice to stay puts any extra pressure on me. In every game, in every training session I try to give my best, prepare as best I can, give the best for the team, for myself and for what the coach asks of me. Obviously everything you try to do well is reproduced to please people and also try to give the best for the fans.”

You are the best player in the league in the last 16 meters. Why do you go off target so many times during the game?

“Sometimes, for my own reasons, I want to help the team during the build-up phase. Obviously I feel better near the goal, in the narrow corridors, in the last metres. Today I played a little further away from the goal, and that’s something I have to improve on.”

Why did you say no to 70-80 million euros?

“Everyone looks at it, I put a lot of things on the table to make a decision. The family, my wife, the city, the team, they want to return to the national team. I am 30 years old, I feel good, although sometimes I hear a lot of criticism about injuries. I try to do my best every time to give my best, as I said before there are many things. Then we only talk about money. Of course, when you see that number there, you cannot say that you are not thinking about it, but you put a lot of things on the table first that made me choose to stay.”

How did your attorney react to the rejection?

“Nothing has changed for my agent. I heard through the grapevine that he would get a lot of money, and that’s not true. My happiness is more important to him. I love him very much, I’ve worked with him for a long time and he wouldn’t accept anything that would be published in the newspapers.”

How did the Arabs take it?

“I don’t know, I haven’t talked to them.”
