Aragonés confirms Vueling as ‘champion of Catalonia’s prosperity’

It highlights the company’s investments in sustainability and artificial intelligence

Acting head of the state government, Pere Aragonés, emphasized that Fueling is “the main player in Catalonia’s prosperity.”

He said this Thursday at the airline’s twentieth anniversary celebration, which was also attended by government delegate Carlos Brito; Councilor Meritexel Seret; IAG CEO, Luis Gallego, and CEO and President of the company, Carolina Martinoli.

Also present was former President of the Generalitats Artur Maas; General Director of Turespaña, Miguel Sanz, and President of Iberia, Marco Sansavini, among others.

Aragonés stressed that Fueling “has become one of the most important companies in Catalonia,” and explained that it has the fifth highest turnover rate.

“It is a key player in Catalonia’s prosperity, and an engine of the economy because of its direct economic impact and how it contributes to expanding the economy,” he added.

The president emphasized the company’s “nonconformist spirit and transformational outlook” and appreciated the airline’s role in democratizing air travel.

Climate change

Aragones highlighted the way Vueling has addressed the challenges of climate change and its commitment to “advancing sustainable mobility through research and innovation.”

He pointed to his commitment to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF, its acronym in English) “as the fuel of the future.”

The company’s commitment to artificial intelligence (AI) was underscored with the announcement on Wednesday of the establishment of a center dedicated to this technology in Villadecans (Barcelona).

The President celebrated that this announcement confirms that Catalonia “generates confidence at the global level” for this type of investment.
