The most famous chefs from Tarragona and Lleida show their talents in Reus

All Sunday morning, The Reus Chamber of Commerce's Espai Llotja hosted the tryoutsWith a total of nine students from five culinary schools. Noemi Scarlett Montalván and Taltamas Usheikh, from El Leyendar-El Ripartidor School – ranked in Saturday's Social Prize tests – and Ronnie Alexandre Espinosa, from Lleida School of Hospitality and Tourism, reached the final in the Hall category.

The jury nominees served an appetizer inspired by extra virgin olive oil from Les Borges Blanques, and a main course based on the famous Pota Brav del Prat de Llobregat chicken and hazelnuts from Reus. The students made their preparations using other high-quality products such as Rios Vermouth, Bayo rice from the Ebro Delta, Batali ham and Macro food products. The drinks were served by Cerveses San Miguel, Royal Bliss, Café l'Or and the prestigious wine Formiga de Clos Galena (Priorat).

In two days, with the support of the Reus City Council and the Tarragona Provincial CouncilThis weekend, Reus received one of the most relevant events held throughout Catalonia in search of the best students of the country's culinary and dining room.

The Lladonosa Awards are chosen through three gastronomic competitions – With live cooking demonstrations – as well as another social prize quiz, inspired by the “masterchef” format and open to all public and private hospitality schools in Catalonia.

The Lladonosa Awards were born in 2021 in honor of the Catalan chef Josep Lladonosa i Giró (1938).a major figure in the gastronomic culture of the Mediterranean with many distinctions, among them the Cross of Saint George, for his enormous mission of historical research and documentation.

Social Prize “Josep Luis Rol”, Saturday

This fourth edition of the 2024 Lladonosa Awards once again programmed a specific section dedicated to the inclusion of the most disadvantaged people. Yesterday, Saturday, the grand final trials for the Social Prize were held.

Cristian David Valencia, from the Training and Employment Foundation, in the cooking category, and Noemi Scarlet Montalván, from El Leyendar-El Ripartidor School, in the dining room category, were chosen as winners from among the nine applicants from all over Catalonia to come. From two training centers in the cooking category, and eight other young people in the dining room category, coming from two other schools.

Semi-finals Barcelona and Girona

Last March 15, the first semi-final of the Lladonosa Awards was held at the headquarters of Escola d'Hostaleria i Turisme de Barcelona (ESHOB) where a total of 24 kitchen and dining room students (12 from Barcelona and 12 from Girona) from eight culinary schools participated (Five from Barcelona and three from Girona) were selected by the jury.

Marta Ottefrom the Hospitality School of Barcelona (ESHOB) and Mark Mariefrom CETT, are the two teams qualifying for the Barcelona section for the grand final that will be held on May 19 at Les Borges Blanques.

In the room manager class, they will accompany them Ton Zambrano,also from CETT, and Diego Gomez, from ESHOB. With them, John Eric Guzman, from the Girona School of Hospitality and Tourism (EHTG), and Queralt socaratsfrom Escola Vedruna Gràcia, both from the province of Girona, were also ranked in this order as the first finalists for the fourth edition of the Josep Lladonosa Gastronomy Awards, which took place throughout the day on Saturday at the ESHOB headquarters
