The Chinese National Assembly emphasizes its cohesion and unanimity

The lianghui or legislature has highlighted the characteristics of Chinese politics, the sensitivity to dissent, the penchant for sealism and the party as the axis on which everything revolves. The annual session of the National People's Assembly, which concluded yesterday, focused on the economy and the need to stimulate it. Experts say forecasts of 5% annual growth are optimistic, and little evidence has been revealed about how this will be achieved.

The National People's Assembly approved an initiative to protect sovereignty and national security with a set of new laws of unknown content, which come on the heels of amendments to existing laws against espionage and state secrets. In fact, the Assembly approved the initiatives it received by the usual overwhelming majority, which explains why Beijingers called it the “Great Tea Hall.”
