The formal nature of the agreement
Honda will remain in Formula 1 even after 2025, and now it’s official. In fact, the Japanese driver tightened A Multi-year agreement with Aston Martin for the supply of power units In view of the organizational change scheduled for 2026. Thus, the successful partnership with Red Bull – which has so far brought the title of one constructor and two drivers – will end in two seasons, with the Anglo-Austrian team choosing to build its own engines, benefiting from Ford’s cooperation.
So Honda looked elsewhere and struck a deal with Aston Martin – the junior team currently ranked second in the world championship – who would, in turn, distance themselves from Mercedes to embrace the Golden Wing company. As indicated in the press release, Honda will improve its electric drive and battery technologies in Formula 1, with the aim of transferring them to road cars. For the Japanese house, this is the sixth team to be introduced in the top category, after Williams, McLaren, BAR, Red Bull and AlphaTauri.
