(Beijing) A man armed with a knife has killed at least six people and wounded 14 others in eastern China, state media reported Sunday.
The play took place on Saturday afternoon in the streets of Anqing, 1,200 kilometers south of Beijing in Anhui province, state television CCTV reported.
Five people were killed and 15 were injured in the previous report.
An additional victim who was hospitalized in critical condition died of his injuries on Saturday, while another person is in a critical condition, the channel said.
The attack took place on a pedestrian shopping street in Anking, which has a population of about five million.
The 25-year-old, unemployed and “angry” suspect has been arrested and is under investigation, according to CCTV citing the city’s Public Safety Bureau.
Sword attacks are not uncommon in China, where civilians are not allowed to carry guns.
They continue to be carried out blindly by people who consider themselves victims of injustice and want revenge on society.
In April, a man stabbed two children and injured 16 others at a nursery school in southern China.
In 2018, a man was sentenced to death for stabbing nine children to death in the north of the country.
